PREEMPTIVE STRIKING CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE
Lets say hypothetically you are an internet hacker. What is your purpose? To gain access to credit card numbers, right? Once you have those credit card numbers, what do you do with them? You can unlock addresses, social security numbers, clear out of life savings, and possibly take over lives. Identity theft would even further ruin finances and credit scores. But, what do you do with a virtual credit card? Here is the answer, not much. The internet makes shopping easy and convenient for many consumers. But, with every click of the mouse, there are risks of identity theft and credit card fraud lurking around the theoretical corner. A solution to this problem is the virtual credit card. Offered by many banks and credit card providers, but almost unheard of by many consumers.
Some of the biggest issuers being Instant Virtual Credit Card, Citicards, Discover card, and Bank of America. Paypal used to offer this to their customers, but through lack of interest has stopped offering that option. The process of getting one is simple and is as easy as getting a prepaid credit card. You request one either through your bank or credit card provider, set a limit that you want on the card, and choose an expiration date. Instantly a 16 digit card number and CVV number will be sent to you via your email. This faux card is used the same as your actual debit or credit card would be used. This virtual card allows you to make completely secure purchases online while minimizing the risk of phishing sites and internet hackers taking over your life. This virtual credit card is ideal for making purchases that do not need credit card verification for pick-up, since obviously your actual credit card and the virtual one would not match and would cause problems at pick-up. But, the plus to this card is it does not link any personal information back to you through encrypting. Even if a hacker does somehow get a hold of your virtual numbers, he or she would not get very far with it. But even then there are even stricter limitations you can set for your card.
There are options to only set the card to be used for certain stores. You can have it “self-destruct” after only one use, or set the limit of the card to only match the amount of the item you are purchasing. While this may seem like a hassle, it is actually very easy. In the long run, keeping your finances in tact and preventing those credit predators out there from hijacking your life is well worth a simple form. Make sure to do a little preemptive striking.
